It has been another good week on Sovereignty Ranch, where Adi and I are deep into our summer. Many of you know why we are here. Through our foundation, Thriving Healthy Strong, we have partnered with the ranch to build a holistic wellness center, a place where people can come to heal naturally and return to their best health.
This week I get to share something I have waited to tell you. Adi finished her first book, The Flower Essence Learning Companion. I have watched her work at it for awhile and I’m excited to watch her evolve as a health advocate.
The book grows out of the work of Dr. Edward Bach, an English physician in the 1930s. He left a busy London practice because he had come to believe that our health follows our emotional state, that fear and worry and sorrow sit underneath much of what ails us. He walked the English countryside and found thirty-eight flowers, each one matched to a feeling. Fear has its flower, and so does grief, and so does the weariness of holding too much for too long. His idea was a simple one. Tend to the emotion and the body follows.
Adi came to these flowers through her own grief. When her mother passed, she fell into a deep and dark season, the kind that does not lift on its own. The essences were what met her there. They did not erase the loss. They helped her carry it, one honest day at a time. Somewhere in that suffering she made a promise. She said, “God, if you help me through this, I promise I will help others.” This book is her keeping that promise.
She turned each of Dr. Bach's essences into a single card, including the one that brought her relieve, Rescue Remedy (see below). Every card shows two things at a glance, the feeling the remedy meets and the calmer place it helps you reach. You see at once how Aspen turns a nameless fear into trust, or how Beech softens judgment into acceptance. The soft watercolor on every page is her own. You cut the cards out and keep them close, shuffle them, study them, draw one on the mornings you need it. Nothing about it is complicated. That was the whole point.
We are giving away the quiz that goes with it. You download it free, answer a few honest questions, and it points you toward the flowers meant for you. The book is there for anyone who wants to go further.
Come see what we are building and if you want to be a part of the journey, visit Thriving Healthy Strong to see more of what we are doing. We are looking for all kinds of partners in our endeavors. Make sure todownload your free quiz and see which flower is right for you. If the book calls to you, the link is waiting there too. [book link]
Adi poured herself into this one, and she kept her word. I could not be prouder of her.
The creek at Sovereignty Ranch ran dry for three years and the bed held nothing but pale stone and the shape where water used to be. Then the flood came down through the Hill Country and destroyed much in its path and left something beautiful in its wake. What the flood took it replaced with a flowing stream of natural mineral water on the land. And this is the lesson of life, in destruction is birth, in chaos is calm, and it is only our perception that paints which is which. We either trust God's plan or we don't.
The creek found its old source somewhere underground and filled again, green over the limestone and clear to the pebbles on the bottom. It runs now past the cedar and the cut bank as if it had never once gone silent. It is in these moments of surrendering that we find we were never in control to begin with.
Everyone carries a story worth telling. Most people never learn how. In my master course I teach you the four questions every great story turns on. Who stands at the center of it. What sets the whole thing moving. Where it all takes place. Why any of it matters to a stranger. Learn these four and the stage is yours, whether you are writing a speech, filming a vlog at your kitchen table, or building something the world has not seen yet. The voice is already yours. Let me show you how to use it.
I’ve spent most of my life onstage, telling stories for laughs and feeling a room shift in real time. For twenty five years I hosted an improvisational show called Four Day Weekend, and that stage felt like home. In 2020 the world shifted, and so did I. The questions of the world began to matter more to me than comedy, and I turned toward writing about life's greater mysteries, finishing We’ll Always Have Paris and later Quietude, which became a quiet turning point in my life. Exploring The 12 Universal Laws widened the lens even more. Now the island reflections and everyday synchronicities I share carry one intention, which is to help you awaken to your highest potential. I am not here to convince or impress you. I simply hope to brighten your day, invite you to question what you have been told, and remind you of what you already know. Each morning I return to the same ground. I am awake. I am aware. I am able. I remember. Everything I share grows from there.
